Michigan Psychological Association's (MPA) mission is to improve the health of the people in Michigan by advancing the science, education, and practice of psychology. We are the Michigan affiliate of the American Psychological Association. Our vision is to be the primary professional home for Michigan psychologists by providing legislative advocacy, continuing education, professional networking, and promotion of health service psychology.
MPA is an organization of more than 600 psychologists working to advance psychology as a science and a profession and to promote the public welfare by encouraging the highest professional standards, offering public education and providing public service, and by participating in the public policy process on behalf of the profession and healthcare consumers.
In an effort to keep its members up to date on the activities of the organization and on issues of particular interest to psychologists, MPA publishes the quarterly Michigan Psychologist newsletter and sends out bi-weekly updates via our Midweek with MPA digital newsletter. Other benefits of membership in MPA include:
- A legislative advocacy team that is second to none in giving the profession a voice on public policy issues
- Opportunities to participate in a statewide Psychologist Referral Service to help you strengthen your practice and offer a resource to the public
- Conferences and workshops designed to keep you up to date on clinical, ethical, risk management and practice issues.
